A brief history of the Community Care Clinic:
2005
- Marian Peters, PA-C and Jack Whitlock, MD provide health care services to Hospitality House clients.
- Volunteers plan for a community clinic that will provide health care
services for the uninsured in Boone and surrounding area.
2006
- The Community Care Clinic prepares the facility and opens a primary care clinic for the uninsured in the old Health Department building (Hannah Building).
- First Community Care Clinic patient receives treatment. (05/06)
2007
- Open House for health care professionals.
- Community Care Clinic gains 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
- CCC joins the North Carolina Association of Free Clinics.
- CCC is awarded Blue Cross/Blue Shield start-up and matching funds grants.
- CCC adds counseling and chiropractic services.
2008
- CCC adds acupuncture to services offered.
- Community fundraising begins!
2009
- Rebecca Moore of Boone was selected from a large, talented, pool of applicants to become the Executive Director of the Community Care Clinic effective March 1, 2009.
- The NC Office of Rural Health awarded $71,900 to the Community Care Clinic to create an electronic patient record and referral system that communicates information between other local healthcare systems and services agencies.
- On November 2, Marian Peters, PA, PhD, officially began her new duties as Clinic Director. She was one of the original founders and the driving force behind the development of the Community Care Clinic. She has been serving in an unpaid capacity as the primary healthcare provider since its inception in 2005.
